A UniMac commercial washer is a long-term investment, so choosing the right model matters as much as the price. UniMac builds washer extractors for hotels, hospitals, laundromats and industrial laundries, from 7 kg soft-mount machines to 280 kg industrial units. This guide walks through the six decisions that lead to the right UniMac commercial washer for your site in the UAE.
What is a UniMac commercial washer?
UniMac is the on-premise laundry brand of Alliance Laundry Systems, manufactured in the United States. The washers are designed for continuous daily use, with heavy frames, industrial bearings, high-speed extraction and controls that reduce operator error. In the UAE they are widely used in hotel laundries, hospital laundries and facilities management operations.
6 steps to choose the right UniMac commercial washer
1. Work out your daily load
The right UniMac commercial washer starts with your laundry volume in kilograms per day and the hours available to process it. Divide the daily load by the number of cycles you can run, and you have the capacity you need per machine. Always size for your busiest day, not the average, and never plan to run a washer over its rated load. Our article on sizing washer extractors shows the calculation in detail.
2. Decide between soft-mount and hard-mount
Soft-mount UY series washers have internal suspension, spin at high G-force and can be installed on any solid floor, including upper floors. Hard-mount UC series and UW series washers bolt to a concrete base, cost less and are the standard choice for ground-floor industrial laundries.
3. Choose the controls
Every UniMac commercial washer is available with a choice of controls. Simple controls are easier to train new staff on. UniLinc touch controls let a manager program cycles for each linen type, lock settings, and track water, chemical and energy use. For laundries with high staff turnover or strict linen standards, programmable controls pay for themselves in consistency.
4. Check your site utilities
Before ordering a UniMac commercial washer, confirm the power supply (1 phase or 3 phase), water pressure, hot water availability and drain size. A washer that needs 3 phase power cannot be installed on a 1 phase supply, and a drain that is too small will slow every cycle. Checking this early avoids delays on installation day.
5. Consider barrier washers for healthcare
Hospitals and clinics should look at the UniMac UB, UH and UMB barrier washer extractors. These load on the soiled side and unload on the clean side, through a wall, to meet infection-control requirements.
6. Match the dryer
A commercial washer is only as productive as the dryer behind it. Plan a dryer with roughly 1.5 to 2 times the washer capacity so that wet loads do not queue. See our guide to the UniMac commercial dryer price and models.
