Dubai is hard on laundry equipment Dubai operators will tell you. High ambient temperatures, dust, long operating hours and tight laundry rooms shorten the life of machines that would last longer elsewhere. This guide explains how each condition affects washers and dryers and gives six checks for buying equipment that lasts in Dubai.
Heat, dust and water
Ambient heat in a laundry room raises motor and electronics temperatures, so machines with good ventilation, industrial-rated motors and controls mounted away from heat sources last longer. Dust and lint block dryer screens and ducts faster, so easy-access lint compartments and rigid ducting matter. Desalinated water is soft, which is kind to machines, but pressure varies by building.
Laundry equipment Dubai sites need, above all, is equipment designed for continuous industrial use rather than light commercial duty.
Long hours and tight rooms
Hotel laundries in Dubai often run two shifts. Machines rated for a few cycles a day fail within a couple of years under that load. Tight basement laundry rooms also mean soft-mount washers, careful exhaust routing and make-up air planning.
Abelco Equipment Trading surveys Dubai sites and specifies industrial-rated machines with the ventilation, exhaust and access they need.
- Industrial duty rating for multi-shift use
- Motors and controls rated for high ambient temperature
- Easy-access lint compartments and rigid ducting
- Soft-mount washers for basements and upper floors
- Make-up air and room ventilation planned
- Local spare parts and technicians in Dubai
Six checks before you buy
Confirm the duty cycle rating, the ambient temperature rating, the exhaust design, the mounting type for your floor, the ventilation plan for the room and the local parts and service coverage. These six checks separate laundry equipment that lasts ten years in Dubai from equipment that lasts three.
Price matters, but a machine that fails early in a Dubai hotel costs far more than the saving.
